Happy International Women’s Day
I’ve admired Mika Brezenski and her work supporting women’s careers since she began co-hosting Morning Joe in 2007. I read and gifted her book, Knowing Your Value, to several women beginning their careers.
Mika has been enthusiastically promoting the Forbes 30/50 Summit in Abu Dhabi.
As a woman who remade my career at age 50, I believe her message that women deserve recognition and equal pay for their accomplishments is essential to our society at large.
Unfortunately, my enthusiasm for the summit plummeted when I realized the registration fee was $10,000.
Who is Mika’s audience when she espouses the benefits of the conference? Not for many women I know over 50 — the most extraordinary, but seemingly ordinary, women.
The summit highlights women under 30 and 50+ who have achieved extraordinary success. I wish it weren’t so closely tied to riches earned so more deserving women could reap its benefits.
