4 Ways to Meet Your Goals and End the year on Your Terms.

Does “Back to School” signal “Back to Work” on goals for you?

There’s something about this time of year that feels like a renewal. It might be a chill in the air (but not if you live in a place like Arizona).

You may be sending your kids back to school — or even to their first year of school. It’s an exciting time! I even buy the academic version of my favorite planner.

September signals a chance at a new beginning.

As a business owner you now have less than 4 months to meet your goals — financial, customer, operational, and any other goal you wanted to achieve.

At the start of 2017 you probably created some BHAGs (Big Hairy Audacious Goals). I hope so. But, what did you do with “the goals?” Did they appear on your whiteboard…only to fade away by May? Or, did you carry them with you, in your wallet or journal perhaps, and look at them daily, assess your progress weekly, and make changes and revisions when necessary?

It’s not too late to get your goals in place for the year end.

It’s time to take action. Today.

  • Time. Set aside time in your calendar to review your goals. Block out 4 hours over 2 or 3 days.
  • Gap. Find the gap in your goals. Where do you want to be? Where are you today? Do you believe your goals are achievable? Do you need to revise them? Do this exercise for each area.
  • System. What specifically do you need to do to reach your goals? Use mind mapping to put together a project plan with dates. Mark planned actions in your calendar. Continue to review your progress weekly. Mark your review in your calendar
  • Mindset. Say goodbye to judgment. If you want to beat yourself up for leaving things undone, do it for 5 minutes. That’s it. Then move on to action.

Keep moving forward. Start from where you are. Today. I believe in you.
